Privacy Policy

The short version

WikiFold is a free tool. We collect only what we need to run the service. We do not sell your data. We do not show you ads. Your content is yours.

What we collect

  • Email address. When you create an account, we store your email so we can send you a magic link to sign in. That is it — we do not collect a name, phone number, or payment information.
  • Document text. When you upload a source document, we extract the text and store it in our database. We do not retain the original file — only the extracted text is kept.
  • Wiki content. The wikis you generate — pages, sections, cross-references — are stored in our database and associated with your account.
  • Usage data. Standard server logs: IP addresses, request timestamps, pages visited. We use this to diagnose problems and understand how the service is used.

How we use it

  • To generate and update your wiki using AI.
  • To authenticate you when you sign in.
  • To provide, maintain, and improve the service.
  • To diagnose errors and fix bugs.

We do not use your content to train AI models. Source text is sent to Anthropic's API for wiki generation (see Third Parties below) and is not used for any other purpose.

Third parties

  • Anthropic (Claude API). When you add a source or update your wiki, the extracted text is sent to Anthropic's API to generate wiki content. Anthropic's API usage is governed by their privacy policy.
  • Supabase. We use Supabase (Postgres) to store your account data, document text, and wiki content. Supabase is hosted in the United States. Their privacy policy is at supabase.com/privacy.
  • Vercel. WikiFold is hosted on Vercel. Web requests pass through Vercel's infrastructure. Their privacy policy is at vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

Cookies

We use one type of cookie: the session cookie set by Supabase Auth when you sign in. This cookie keeps you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

Wiki visibility

Wikis are accessible to anyone who has the URL. There is no search index or directory — if you share the link, anyone can view it. If you want to keep a wiki private, do not share the link.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your email address, document text, and wiki content from our systems. Some data may persist in backups for up to 30 days after deletion.

Your rights

  • Access. You can view all of your wikis and sources from your dashboard at any time.
  • Deletion. You can delete individual wikis and sources from within the app. To delete your account and all associated data, email us (see Contact below).
  • Export. Your wiki content is readable as plain text in the app. If you need a structured export, email us and we will help.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and, if the changes are significant, notify you by email. Continued use of WikiFold after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
